Author of “Changing Lanes” Visits Summit, New Jersey Library
Monday, March 03, 2008
Jane visited the Summit Library to speak to baby boomers and career changers about identifying a path to mid-life renewal and overcoming the inertia that prevents us from achieving a balanced and satisfying second half.
Jelenko shared real-life stories chronicled in her work with co-author Susan Marshall about the journeys of senior executives in a variety of industries who embraced the opportunities of “retirement” or proactive “lane changes” to renew their zest and achieve more meaning, balance and personal fulfillment.
These inspirational examples show that recognizing when to evolve your dreams and tap into existing or new skill sets to map alternative paths can initiate a healthy change for yourself, your family and others. The author shared her own journey to become the first woman partner in the consulting arm of KPMG—a global professional services firm—and to be invited to serve on its Board of Directors, to then paving the way toward creating an enviable movement toward “changing lanes.”
In his Forward to Changing Lanes, Paul Reilly, chairman of global executive solutions firm Korn/Ferry International states: “Changing Lanes is a must-read. It will open your mind to possibilities that you have not dared dream of…Reading this wonderful book may only reinforce that what you are doing is what you love. Or, it may just open up a whole new world that you have been waiting to explore. Either way, you will be a winner.”
Summit resident Annette Dwyer, inspired by Jane’s commitment in the late ‘80s and 90’s to set an example for both women and men to live “abundantly,” said,
“Jane’s book, Changing Lanes, is a compelling set of testimonies of how success can be defined differently yet abundantly to affirm our priorities at every stage of our lives.”
The Summit Free Public Library, 75 Maple Street, is hosted Jane’s discussion of her book and helpful “how to” on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 7:30pm. The library
event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for signing and sale.
