Book Excerpt
Will Bashan lived this kind of frenetic life. Like most people who earn a good living, Will and Beth liked never having to worry about money. But the financial security came at a heavy price in terms of time and liberty. The tony perks were great, but the Bashans came to admit that the limos, jets, and expense accounts were losing their luster. The undeniable truth was that downsizing their lives would be a major relief.
Realizing he was losing contact with his kids, his wife, and himself, Will set out to find a business in the rural community that had nourished his soul as a younger man. After looking in vain for a feasible business acquisition in Colorado, Will developed a plan to work for five more years to amass the capital needed to make the numbers work. He took a job on the East Coast running a mutual fund business, intending to stay long enough to build a nest egg to fund his plan. But the CEO decided to get out of the mutual fund business within in a year of Will’s arrival.
